First of all, I snagged this title from an episode of Eureka, Season 3, Episode 1. If you aren't familiar, Eureka was an American/Canadian science fiction television show from the mid-2000s about a town full of super geniuses in the Pacific Northwest.

More Drones, More Problems

Right now, as I type this, drones are continuing to be a nuisance above countries all over Europe, flying above major airports, preventing any planes from arriving or departing—when they aren't casually roaming residential neighborhoods like something out of War of the Worlds.

Okay, maybe not that dramatic. They certainly haven't shown any advanced intelligence other than cruising along and hovering, ticking off both governments and travelers alike.

It's beyond me how the drone situation is still a situation at all, given how built-up these countries are and, more importantly, what their defensive and offensive capabilities are. Why are these "drones" being allowed to invade any airspace they so choose without so much as a bullet or missile to its center mass?

From where I sit, it seems to me like these countries are worried about provoking whoever is controlling these contraptions, which is terrifying if true. But not for the reasons you probably think, though—it's terrifying because if nations don't have control of their airspace and are scared to defend it, that's a serious concern.

Blame Game

Now, everyone has their opinions on the matter—what they are, where they came from, who is potentially controlling them. The usual finger-pointing has ensued: America, China, Russia—in other words, the three major superpowers on planet Earth.

After the fiasco last year here in the United States, when we dealt with our own drone drama primarily over the eastern United States but also other parts, it seemed to me at the time that these were the work of a corporation more so than a nation or its military.

I suppose it could also be an organization of individuals not affiliated with any corporation officially, but the facts as I know them at this moment make me think that's unlikely.

Always Comes Back To Aliens

It certainly was not extraterrestrials causing that chaos. Any being or entity so advanced to cross the galactic divide to get to us would almost certainly possess craft and technology we couldn't even begin to comprehend. Besides, the majority of these drones were very vanilla or basic and had propellers like any consumer or prosumer models available on the market.

Of course, this hasn't stopped conspiracy theorists from pushing the UFO angle still, as it pertains to these drones. Everyone has a theory, but what nobody seems to have is a clue, and this seems extremely unlikely given how advanced everyone is both militarily and technologically.

Almost Like It's No Big Deal

I occasionally tune into Western military frequencies from around the world because I like to know what's really happening instead of the fairytale version the so-called "news" broadcasts every day.

I find it quite intriguing that, despite these breaches of airspace and incursions over the most sensitive government sites, nothing is done to prevent or stop it from happening. Just using some logic and critical thinking skills, it would appear that these governments aren't threatened by the mere presence of these drones.

In fact, everyone seems to have a laid-back posture when these are in their presence. So, these drones either belong to these nations or they belong to a nation whom all the other nations do not fear.

The Other Possibility

I'm not a fan of "what ifs," but allow me to play devil's advocate for a moment. Could it be that these don't belong to humans of any cloth and instead are generated by artificial intelligence? Perhaps something that escaped from a clandestine lab one night and inadvertently transported an unsuspecting youth to another dimension?

Oh my, wouldn't that be exciting! Oh, come on! It's no sillier than the many UFO theories floating around. This is the problem I have with this and other situations playing out all over Earth right now.

The powers that be aren't coming out and putting an end to any of this—instead, allowing it to fester and progress forward. Since when did any government behave in this fashion, especially when it was detrimental to them or how they operate?

Well, it doesn't look as if this nonsense is going to end any time soon. Looks like 2025 will close out the same way it began: lackluster.

Final Thought

It's clear that something is transpiring both behind and in front of the proverbial curtain. It's not that big of a deal to write home about, but it's big enough all the same to complain that it's happening while doing absolutely nothing about it.

It almost feels like a game of sorts, doesn't it? For all we know, the governments of planet Earth could be playing the most complicated game of checkers. It's certainly no game of chess—there aren't any true alphas anywhere on the board, but instead mere children playing a game of who blinks first.

Another way to look at it: the governments of planet Earth are conducting some sort of drill or series of drills in preparation for something to come. It seems ridiculously flawed and simple on the surface, but as a guy who is flawed and simple, stranger things have happened!
